ABOUT

JOHANNA GRAHN HOLLSTRÖM

“Quiet and emotional, but at the same time powerful in their expressions. That is how I would like to describe my ceramics. I make sculptural art objects and wall art in stoneware ceramics, which are characterized by an abstract interpretation of organic shapes and movements. Always based on a feeling that I want to convey. My art is dedicated to the interplay of the senses. Tactile. Sensual. Emotional.”

I am an artist and designer active in Gustavsberg, outside of Stockholm. I have studied at the Umeå School of Design (MFA Industrial Design), and Art and Crafts at Edelvik Folk High School.

I make art objects and sculptures in stoneware ceramics. Every object is made by hand with different modeling techniques. Inspiration, shapes and colors are collected from nature in the design process, and are remodeled to more abstract expressions.

I was honoured to be appointed to the Värmdö Municipality's cultural worker scholarship 2025. In 2019 and 2020 I was also appointed as a Design Talent at Formex design fair and was represented at Li Edelkoort's renowned exhibition ANIMISM 2019. I have also been represented at the exhibitions The Villa and The Art of Living during the Formland design fair in Denmark 2020.
